Replacing a roof is often regarded as one of the least fun home improvement projects, but the reality is that it is one of the most important ones.  Securing your home with a quality roof is one of the best investments you can make in order to protect the rest of your home.

Leaks – A sure sign that there is a roof problem that will need immediate attention is a roof leak. Often, homeowners will put off replacing an old roof until they start to notice leaks.  This is certainly not the ideal situation but will need to be addressed immediately to prevent damage to the interior of the home.

Signs of a roof leak:

  • Water spots on the interior ceiling
  • Missing shingles
  • Cracked shingles
  • Missing or cracked boot on roof penetrations
  • Wet roof decking as seen through the attic
  • Storm Damage – If you have experienced storm damage to your roof, you will definitely need to have it inspected to determine if replacement is necessary.

Some signs of storm damage are:

  • Missing shingles
  • Thin, horizontal lines where granules have worn off & shingle seal has broken
  • Hail damage – sometimes best seen on vents & other metal components
  • Debris damage – a large pile of granules at the end of the downspout is a sign
  • Other Signs of Needing a New Roof – In addition to the above, here are some things to look for when assessing your potential need for roof replacement:
    • Curled shingle edges or shingle tabs are cupped
    • Bald spots where granules are missing
    • Cracked shingles
    • Your roof is at least 20 years old
    • Your roof looks old and worn
    • Dark streaks
    • Moss growing on your roof
  • Curb Appeal – As with windows and siding, a new roof can substantially increase curb appeal of your home.

In conjunction with replacing your roof, we also offer blown-in attic insulation and other energy-efficient attic products to help make your home more comfortable and reduce your energy bills.
